Members of the National Front in Defense of the Electricity Reform demonstrated yesterday outside the Chamber of Deputies to demand that the opposition parties approve the presidential proposal, since, they affirmed, it guarantees the country’s energy sovereignty.
Around 300 people demanded to put an end to the privatization of energy and that stop being the lobbyists of the big transnational companies
.
With posters that read “Is it difficult to authorize the electrical reform because there is no nights?”, the dissidents launched slogans outside the legislative palace of San Lázaro against the parliamentary groups of the National Action (PAN), Institutional Revolutionary (PRI), Democratic Revolution (PRD) and Citizen Movement (MC) parties, which they anticipated their vote against the constitutional reform.
Recover the CFE
Silvia Ramos Luna, general secretary of the National Union of Petroleum Technicians and Professionals, pointed out that electricity it must be under the stewardship of the State, because it is a human right, not a commodity
. The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) must be recovered, he added, so that cheap and quality energy is guaranteed.
The National Front in Defense of the Electricity Reform is made up of more than a hundred social, agrarian and union organizations from all over the country, as well as political groups such as Morena.
Faced with the postponement of the discussion of the reform report on electrical matters for next Sunday, the coordination of the Front informed them that efforts had to be redirected
and agreed to maintain the actions planned yesterday at the national level, while the groups that so decided could mobilize in Mexico City.
At least eight organizations responded to the initial call that circulated days before, such as the Movement of Original Peoples in Resistance and the National Union of Oil Technicians and Professionals.
With slogans like free energy what the people need
the non-conformists – who marched from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation – warned that they will return next Sunday and assured that they will not impede access to legislators; on the contrary, we want them not to be absent
they expressed.
