Four laboratory technicians were arrested this afternoon during a protest and street closure that they carried out on the premises of the Social Security Fund (CSS) in Clayton.

The technicians who remained on the road for more than an hour were evicted by the riot units of the National Police.

“They take four of our colleagues away with handcuffs. During the pandemic we work up to 14 hours straight. I worked 3 months non-stop during the critical moments of the covid,” said Luis Bonilla, president of the National Association of Clinical Laboratory Technicians Assistants , by reiterating that they are not criminals to be treated as such.

Bonilla said that they are fighting for their rights and that if it is necessary to leave blood in this fight they will do so.

He assured that despite having met with the CSS authorities, they have not received a convincing response about the salary increase due, and indicated that some colleagues have received threats from the authorities.

Laboratory technicians and assistants have been on strike for 5 days demanding payment of a salary increase of 120 dollars.
