Santiago. The popular organizations of the municipality of Villa Bisonó protested by painting the meters black in rejection of the high electricity billing.
They accuse the Edenorte company of having doubled the rate. Another group threw debris and blocked the main roads of the municipality. On Eugenio Lithgow Street, protesters put black paint on the meters, making them difficult to read.
Tomasa Cruz said that to pay an invoice of 800 pesos, now he must look for 2,213 pesos. In other sectors they complain about the rounds of blackouts left by the damage to the electrical wiring after the passage of Hurricane Fiona. While in the municipality of Tamboril, housewives and community leaders protested in front of the Edenorte offices against high bills and blackouts, while in the community of Haina they confronted an Edenorte brigade.
