The candidate for an AD faction, Carlos Prosperi, said he had no intention of remaining in power if he wins in 2024. He believes that calling for free mid-term elections will help re-institutionalize the country
Carlos Prosperia candidate for the primaries for the Acción Democrática faction led by Henry Ramos Allup, promised this Saturday, May 27, that, if he wins the elections in 2024, he will call “free elections” in the middle of his eventual term so that Venezuelans choose all the positions of popular election.
This was stated by Prosperi during a visit to the state of Mérida, where he affirmed that this step is necessary to “continue to clean up” the country and preserve democracy.
He indicated that he has no pretensions to perpetuate himself in power if he wins, according to a press release.
Similarly, he explained that with these elections that he plans to call, if he wins the primaries and the 2024 elections to become president, the CNE will not be pressured and there will be no political prisoners. Neither will there be disabled people, nor will there be persecuted or intimidated people. He even promises to return the judicialized parties to their leaders because “only in this way will we be able to have free elections and therefore a democracy.”

He insisted that this is his way for the reinstitutionalization of Venezuela and of each of the State Powers.
Carlos Prosperi sees himself as a transitional president and the one who achieves peace in the country, as well as a return to the Constitution.
He took the opportunity to ratify his proposal to the other candidates who want to participate in the primaries to all go together to carry out the process, since in his opinion “the first step towards true unity is taken.”
Last may 23Prosperi invoked the opposition unit ahead of the primary elections on October 22.
“I call on our brothers in the struggle, to each of those candidates who are going to register as presidential candidates: Tell them that unity must not only exercise, unity must be proclaimed and unity must be consolidated,” he said and proposed to the others to go all to formalize their candidacies before the National Commission of Primary.
After Mérida, Prosperi is expected to visit the states of Barinas, Apure and Guárico.
