Prosecutors will investigate alleged assault at UCV against deputy Inacio Da Costa

Deputy Inacio Da Costa reported having been attacked by alleged members of the political organization Vente Venezuela on July 19. The Prosecutor’s Office identified five individuals linked to this incident.

The prosecutor appointed by the now defunct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, reported on the night of Sunday, July 21, that the 9th Prosecutor’s Office on homicides was commissioned to investigate and punish the alleged aggression that two members of Vente Venezuela would have perpetrated against the deputy of the National Assembly for Cambiemos, Inacio Da Costa.

Through their social networksSaab said that the events occurred on the night of Friday the 19th in the UCV parking lot when the subjects, identified as Anthony Vega, Jhon Álvarez, Erick Rosa and Eleyn Echarry, allegedly attacked Deputy Da Costa with a bottle, causing injuries to various parts of his body.

According to the prosecutor’s message, Vega allegedly threatened to kill the legislator, calling him a “scorpion.”

Hours earlier, the dean of the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the UCV, Juan Carlos Apitz, had decided to open an internal investigation to clarify what happened and impose the corresponding sanctions on those responsible.

Inacio Da Costa, on the night of Friday, July 19, made a thread in his X account where she reports that she was the victim of an alleged assault by the campaign team of candidate Edmundo González Urrutia and by Anthony Vega, who is accused of being a member of Vente Venezuela.

He explained that he was at his girlfriend’s graduation at UCV and, when he went to the parking lot, he was accosted by Vega, who smashed a bottle over his head. Then, five more people and a woman approached. While he was trying to take care of his girlfriend, Da Costa said that he was insulted by these individuals with epithets such as “collaborationist, chavista and divisive.”

One student was reportedly injured while trying to calm things down.

Then, “many students interceded in our defense and an unidentified individual took out a firearm from a burgundy Chevrolet Spark model car and pointed it at several students while the gang members ran to the car to flee due to the pressure,” he wrote on his social networks.

This happens one day later that Tarek William Saab indicated that the “attack” reported by the opposition political leader María Corina Machado against some vehicles in which she was traveling was “a simulation” to generate “anxiety.”

“Following the arrest of one of the members of the Vente Venezuela team, the 19th National Prosecutor’s Office has appointed the 19th National Prosecutor’s Office to investigate, according to its own testimony, the false positive spread by María Corina Machado, who, without showing any evidence, stated that the vehicles she used to travel allegedly ‘had been attacked,'” wrote the prosecutor, appointed by the defunct Constituent Assembly, on the social network X.
