Santo Domingo. – The country’s prosecutors are exposed to losing their lives in the raids and other actions of their functions, due to the lack of protection and lack of security, as happened in Elías Piña with a National Police officer.
The Association of Dominican Prosecutors (Prosecutor’s) said that they are exposed to die for aggressions for accused and investigated, as happened with the first lieutenant Fernelis Valdez, who died in an armed confrontation during a raid after the attempt to arrest an alleged criminal.

Judge Andrés Comas Abreu, general coordinator of the entity, revealed that most of the time prosecutors go to the raids without the proper protection of bulletproof vests or with insufficient security agents.
He said that there are issues that become resistance by the persons investigated by the Public Ministry, who react violently and often face the forces of the order and the prosecutors.
He indicated that in these facts there are already prosecutors who have fallen dejected and that the situation persists and that in the least cases they could remain with permanent injuries that prevent them from continuing in the justice service, leading a normal life or keeping their families.
He recalled that the representatives of the Public Ministry represent the interests of the State and society, in this order their work is to face the accusations against people who commit crimes.
He pointed out that the country’s prosecutors do not have health insurance that guarantee adequate medical coverage or pension plans for forced retirement or not.
He insisted on the need for prosecutors to be equipped with health insurance that covers most of their needs in the social security system, as well as decent pensions.
