Prosecutor’s Office will request preventive detention for the two accused of the femicide in Camiri

The Public Ministry will request preventive detention in Palmasola for the two accused of raping and strangling a 36-year-old woman in the Las Piedritas community, in the municipality of Camiri, on the night of Wednesday, April 19.

The departmental prosecutor of Santa Cruz, Róger Mariaca, indicated that the captured suspects were identified like Raúl TA, 19 years old, and Benjamín R. P., 31, who have already been charged with the crime of femicide and it is expected that in the next few hours they will be brought before a precautionary judge.

“In this case, the autopsy report issued by the Institute of Forensic Investigations (IDIF) revealed that the woman died of strangulation, in addition she was raped before her deathwhich confirms a violent death that is being investigated for the crime of femicide,” explained Mariaca.

For his part, the prosecutor assigned to the case, Nelson Illanes, indicated that the victim, María Esther Daza Barrero, was walking down a street in the Las Piedritas community when she was intercepted by two individuals who they stole her belongings, they raped her and they strangled her, leaving her body abandoned by the side of the track.
