Prosecutor Samuel Pérez Villanueva issued a summons for the rector of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Uagrm), Vicente Cuéllar, appear to testify in the municipality of Villa Tunari, Cochabamba, for the complaint he filed against Evo Morales for terrorism and armed uprising.

This Friday morning, the rector of the Uagrm questioned the Prosecutor’s Office for transferring the investigation of his complaint from Santa Cruz to Cochabamba and He pointed out that the intention is to protect Evo, whom he blamed for the clashes due to the blockades that are taking place in the country.

“They intend to protect Mr. Evo Morales. First, they admit the complaint and then refer it to Villa Tunari, where Morales has a strong influence. It is clear that there is a State cover-up here.“said Cuéllar, who criticized the decision for the investigation to be carried out in a place where, according to him, prosecutors and judges “fear retaliation from Morales’ followers.”

Cuéllar also highlighted that the complaint he filed includes accusations of crimes of terrorism and armed uprising, which, according to his criteria, should be investigated in Santa Cruz, where the events occurred.

However, the complaint admitted only considers “minor crimes”; It is about obstruction of freedom of work, means of transportation, media, among others.

“It is not possible for the Public Ministry to wash its hands and transfer the case. There is sufficient evidence to justify a serious investigation and in the corresponding place,” he stated.

The complaint was initially presented at the Departmental Prosecutor’s Office of Santa Cruzbut this was sent to Cochabamba, because supposedly the reported events were recorded in the jurisdiction of Villa Tunari.

On Thursday, the Villa Tunari Prosecutor’s Office began the investigation against alleged perpetrators for the crimes of attack against the security of means of transport, attack against the security of public services, preventing or hindering the exercise of functions, attack against the freedom of work.

While the alleged participation of Morales in the crimes of: toarmed uprising against security and sovereignty of the State, criminal association, terrorism, possession, illicit possession or carrying, attack against members of State security organizations, attack against public property, sabotage, attempted murder, very serious injuries and serious and minor injuries.
