The Prosecutor’s Office responded today to Juan Carlos Portugal, the president’s lawyer Dina Boluarteand assured that it is within the investigation period to carry out procedures to clarify the use of the presidential vehicle, called ‘cofre’, for the alleged escape of Vladimir Cerrón, owner of Perú Libre.
Portugal said yesterday that its client will not respond to more summonses from the Public Ministry because the 90 days available for proceedings have already expired.
“The Public Ministry had the opportunity to call during the first 90 days of its preliminary investigation, three days later (after the deadline expired) it extended the investigation for 8 months; in our thesis outside the deadline,” said the lawyer, who added that has turned to the Judiciary to endorse the completion of the deadline.
