Prosecutor's Office requests 36 months of preventive detention against former Prime Minister René Cornejo

He requested that the measure of 36 months of preventive detention be applied against René Cornejo Díaz, former chief of staff during the government of due to the alleged irregularities detected for the concession of the .

The prosecutor in charge, Diana Canchihuamán Castañeda, who is a member of the special team of the Prosecutor’s Office for the Lavajato and Odebrecht case, made this request after initiating a preparatory investigation into the aforementioned former official during his time in the Housing, Construction and Sanitation portfolio.

This prosecutor’s request was sent to the office of Judge Jorge Chávez Tamariz, who on Friday, February 10, declared the preventive detention hearing in this case installed. The session will continue on Tuesday, February 14.

Cornejo’s lawyer has already been notified and, according to the judge, he has a reasonable period of time to become aware of the content of the prosecutor’s request.
