Prosecutor’s Office requested that the president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee be prohibited from leaving the country

The Public Ministry asked the Judiciary to issue a measure prohibiting Eduardo Álvarez, president of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee (VOC), from leaving the country, according to sources in the justice system.

Álvarez is being investigated for the alleged commission of the crimes of fraudulent embezzlement, evasion of the bidding procedure and aggravated embezzlement, according to official letter No. 00-F67NN-0360-2022.

The Public Ministry processed the request for a ban on leaving the country against Álvarez before the Palace of Justice in Caracas. In the next few hours, a criminal court will have to decide whether to grant or reject the request, signed by prosecutor Farik Karin Mora Salcedo, the 57th national prosecutor.
