Meanwhile, the Police reported that once this alleged intimidation was known, special security protocols were activated for the vice-presidential candidate.
“Immediately this situation arose, security protocols were activated to guarantee the integrity of the candidate, whose life was not at risk at any time,” the institution said in a statement.
He further noted that “This type of laser devices have been used in different parts of the world and in various scenarios, including sports, as has also happened in Colombia”.
According to the Police, together with the National Protection Unit (UNP) “have a security scheme permanently assigned to the vice-presidential candidate, just like for the other presidential and vice-presidential campaigns.

He also pointed out that “all situations and requirements are evaluated within the framework of the Agora II Plan, as a government mechanism headed by the Ministry of the Interior, in order to make timely decisions regarding the safety of the candidates.”
Finally, he said that the institution “has all its capabilities to, under the coordination of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, advance investigations that allow the circumstances surrounding the events of the previous night to be established”.
