The Police arrested a man who is being investigated for selling drugs to defendants and victims of Operation Oceanas they told The Observer sources familiar with the case.
The arrest occurred this Friday afternoon in Canelones. Sources of the case said that the defendant has a link with a drug trafficker who had been arrested 24 hours earlier, and who is a brave gang from Peñarol. That man was arrested on Thursday in a police operation in Jardines del Hipodromo while traveling in a car with a kilo of drugs. Both are being investigated for drug sales, and the last detainee is being investigated for links with the main cause of sexual exploitation of minors in Uruguay.
This Friday afternoon there was a meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior in Montevideo, to discuss –among other issues– the combat drug trafficking. The meeting was headed by the general director of the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking, Alfredo Rodríguez, and other police authorities were invited.
The Observer reported this Wednesday that the prosecution had postponed the investigation into those who supplied drugs to the defendants and some of the victims of Operation Ocean. From the Public Ministry it was argued that the vulnerability of the main victimand that it would be investigated after the criminal proceedings with the young woman ended.
