The measure was announced in disclosed note by the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), in which no details are offered about how many people are involved in the murder, nor their identity.
According to the institution, this step and direct control over the process seek to guarantee respect for due process, transparency, strict compliance with the law and thus avoid any form of impunity.
Once the investigations are completed, The Prosecutor’s Office will exercise public criminal action before the competent court and request sanctions “in correspondence with the seriousness of the facts, the circumstances and the individual characteristics of the authors.”
The statement indicates that the Penal Code Cuban reinforces the severity of the sanctioning framework applicable by the authorities in charge of requesting and administering justice.
