The provincial prosecutor’s office of Yauli – La Oroya, headed by Dr. Sander Flores Saucedo, has initiated an investigation against David Hurtado Navarro and Atilio Pomachagua Aldana, workers of the SAIS Pachacutec, for the alleged crime against property in the form of aggravated theft that occurred on January 4 during the confrontation that occurred in the Conocancha sector. As it is remembered, that day there were three people injured by pellets.
According to the complainant José Luis Espinoza Huertas, on January 3, with the presence of the police from the Morococha police station, an act was signed in which it was established that no confrontation should take place due to the problems between the new peasant community of Conocancha and the SAIS – which dispute the more than 6,340 hectares of grazing area – but, despite the act, on Sunday, January 4, several individuals in vehicles and with weapons arrived in the area. The complainants point out that when they went down to the area in the afternoon, already with police presence, they saw their huts burned and they did not find their belongings such as beds, kitchens, blankets, gas cylinders. In addition to the loss of cattle and pigs valued at almost 10 thousand soles.
The community members have requested that their property be returned and that they may be compensated by those accused.
They have also asked the authorities to mediate this land problem as soon as possible, since it could lead to even deaths in this area located between the districts of Marcapomacocha and Carhuacayán.
