After four years of thorough investigation, the Callao Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office requested the Judicial Branch impose six years and four months in prison at seven senior management of the Marine of Peru for allegedly allowing and endorsing a damage of more than 36.6 million soles to the State, in payment of double remuneration and ghost contracts for teaching services and advice in various naval units.

Giancarlo Polar is the brother of the current admiral and general commander of the Navy, Luis José Polar Figari. At the time of the events, Héctor Riolo and Giancarlo Polar had the position of director of Naval Personnel Administration.
According to judicial documents to which the Republic has had access, the list of defendants is completed by Corvette Captain Edith Arias Moreno, the ship’s captain Rubén Edmundo Castillo Pulache and Corvette Captain Mike Cariapaza Palomino.

The prosecution’s accusation against the high naval commanders
The Prosecutor’s Office considers Héctor Riolo de la Oliva and Giancarlo Polar Figari, who held the position of Naval Personnel Administration in 2013 in which the requirement of expansion of contracts was made, and the year 2014 in 2014 in 2014 that was executed and the payments began to be made.
