Barranquilla Junior striker, Teófilo Gutiérrezno longer faces judicial charges after the complaint filed by the lender GS Marriaga, who accused him of having threatened him in the middle of a dispute for a loan of money. According to an official statement issued by the player’s legal team, the Attorney General’s Office definitely filed the investigation by providence dated September 17, 2025.

“The accusing body determined that the behavior denounced does not constitute any crime, since the elements required by the criminal law are not configured,” Ariel Arteta Granados, a player’s lawyer, explained in a statement. This decision was taken after the research entity analyzed the facts and evidence provided during the preliminary stage of the process.
The statement also clarifies that the origin of the conflict between Gutierrez and the complainant is commercial and private, so it must be resolved in a civil, non -criminal scenario. “The underlying issue corresponds to a strictly commercial difference between individuals, which will be resolved by the corresponding legal routes,” added the legal team of the athlete.
With this decision, Teófilo Gutiérrez is free of criminal responsibility in the case and may continue concentrated in its sports activities. The player has not issued personal statements in this regard, but his environment has insisted that the accusations lacked legal basis from the beginning.

The case of the lender who was denounced before the Prosecutor’s Office

As part of the legal process, the complainant gave the Prosecutor’s Office several evidence, including WhatsApp messages, voice notes and a bill of exchange that would support the loan for an amount close to the 180 million pesos. Marriaga also said that the player complied with the initial payments of the interest, but breached from mid -2025.
