Prosecutors investigate infanticide after newborn found dead in garbage

After the discovery of a lifeless newborn Among the waste, in the municipality of Camiri, the Public Ministry opened a investigation into the crime of infanticide.

The fThe Santa Cruz departmental prosecutor, Róger Mariaca, indicated that the investigation was initiated ex officio and is against the author or authors of the crime.

“Ex officio investigations were initiated immediately, witness statements were taken, the baby’s body was transferred to the morgue for its respective highway and images from security cameras near the place were required in order to identify who or who They left the body abandoned, among other elements that will allow us to know the truth of the events,” Mariaca explained.

Prosecutor Felipe Rojas indicated that the cleaning staff of the municipality of Camiri was the one who informed about the discovery of the baby’s body. The creature was inside a green plastic bag wrapped in rags, inside a garbage container located near the central market of that municipality.

It is presumed that the mother did not receive medical attention, which is why she lost her baby. The baby’s mother is believed to be approximately seven months of gestation.

The baby’s body was with the placenta, also in lUpon external assessment it could be observed that the victim’s body was was fully developed, elements that were assessed to determine that it was the crime of Infanticide.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the Police, is conducting investigations to find the person(s) responsible, so that they can be punished in accordance with the law.
