Prosecutor Saab says that there are no children detained for protests against electoral results

The attorney general imposed by the defunct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, accused the leaders of Brazil and Chile, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Gabriel Boric, respectively, of being agents of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

According to the attorney general imposed by the defunct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, “there is not a single child detained” for the protests against the results of the July 28 elections, in which the National Electoral Council (CNE) named the winner. to President Nicolás Maduro.

Saab made the assertion last Sunday, October 13, during an interview with Globovisión. He noted that those captured, “the vast majority, are 16, 17 years old.” He highlighted that from this total “an extraordinarily qualitative number has emerged due to the action of the Public Ministry and the courts.” He did not offer further details of these releases.

The official blamed the “comanditos”, political organization groups of the campaign of the opposition standard-bearer Edmundo González Urrutia, for having “instrumentalized” the “post-electoral violence”, in which, he insisted, “they used minors under 18 years of age” .

The non-governmental organization Foro Penal, which Saab called “mercenary”, noted last Wednesday that there are 1,916 detainees for “political reasons” in Venezuela, of which 1,846 are adults and 70 adolescents between 14 and 17 years old.

On the other hand, during the interview, Tarek William Saab reported that the Public Ministry has registered a total of 28 deaths, including two soldiers.

He explained that of the total, 23 people were “murdered” by “shots” between July 29 and 30. According to him, two were members of the National Guard (GN). He added that two women were victims of “hate crimes” and two young people died due to “barricades” over which their vehicles “overturned.” He maintained that the protests left 190 injured, of which 100 were police and military personnel.

The head of the Public Ministry assured that the civic-military-police institutional unit “avoided a bloodbath.” He assured that in the nation “more than 2,000 deaths could have occurred” and “4,000 or so injured.”

Saab attacks Lula and Boric

The attorney general imposed by the defunct constituent assembly, Tarek William Saab, accused the leaders of Brazil and Chile, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Gabriel Boric, respectively, of being agents of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). . He said that it is for this reason that the aforementioned presidents have questioned the elections that were held on July 28 in Venezuela.

He pointed out that a part of “the right”, backed by the United States and the CIA in Latin America, has two prominent spokespersons: Lula, who “has been released from prison after facing multiple accusations and who, according to Saab, has changed significantly”; and Boric, who “betrayed the martyred youth who fought against Piñera.”

The prosecutor questioned the quality of Boric and Lula to “meddle” in the internal affairs of Venezuela “and act like the CNE.” He asserted that there is no global CNE, in reference to the disapproval that several countries have had regarding the results of the elections, which were announced by the main rector of the Electoral Branch, Elvis Amoroso.

Lula da Silva has reiterated in different scenarios the need to “restart a conversation” with Venezuela so that it “returns to democratic normality.”

For his part, President Boric has been critical of the administration of Nicolás Maduro. The Chilean president dismissed the election results.

Before the United Nations, Boric said that his country is “especially attentive” to the “critical situation that Venezuela is experiencing“, unleashed after the complaint of electoral fraud by the opposition led by María Corina Machado, who claims that her standard bearer, Edmundo González Urrutiawas the winner in the presidential elections.

On the other hand, he announced that the institution in his charge has reached a notable level of approval among the Venezuelan population. According to the data provided by the prosecutor, 70% of citizens expressed their support for the management of the Prosecutor’s Office, as the highest-rated public institution in the country.
