Prosecutor Saab confirms that Hugbel Roa controlled the corruption plot from Petrocedeño

Tarek William Saab reported this Monday, March 27, that former deputy Hugbel Roa will be presented “in the next few hours” to be charged with the corruption plot in Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).


The Public Ministry confirmed what was an open secret: the control held by the now former deputy of the National Assembly, Hugbel Roa, in the Petrocedeño mixed company. The prosecutor appointed by the extinct constituent, Tarek William Saab, reported this Monday, March 27, that Roa will be presented in the next few hours to be charged with the corruption plot in Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) recently revealed by the authorities.

Various oil industry workers They had denounced that the former parliamentarian maintained total control of the Petrocedeño company, owned 100% by Pdvsa after buying in 2021 the shareholding of France (TotalEnergies) and Norway (Equinor). Although Saab indicated last Saturday, March 25, that Roa was arrested for irregularities with the sale of oil, he did not detail the case for which he is accused.

According to what Saab said last Saturday during his speech to report on those arrested for the corruption plot in Pdvsa, that those involved (officials and businessmen) will be accused by the Public ministry for “appropriation or distraction of public property, boasting or use of relationships or influences, money laundering and criminal association, as well as for treason.”

The former deputy of the AN for the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) for the state of Trujillo was arrested on Sunday, March 19, by the National Anti-Corruption Police as part of an “anti-corruption” operation that began on March 17 and for which several officials from regional governments and the military and judicial sectors were arrested on its first day.

While the Venezuelan Parliament with an official majority approved Roa’s parliamentary immunity last Tuesday, March 21, to make way for his investigation by the authorities.
