The relatives of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci expressed gratitude for the public support and for the work of the investigators. However, they requested caution in the handling of sensitive information that could compromise the lives of relatives.
Through a statement addressed to public opinion and opinion makers, the Pecci Albertini and Pecci Aguilera families thanked all the demonstrations of affection, recognition and appreciation for the tragic event that occurred on May 10 in Barú, Cartagena, where criminals killed Marcelo Pecci.
They also highlightedthe professionalism of the Colombian, Paraguayan and United States security forces, for the progress of the investigation, that today has nine implicated before justice.
“More than ever we want to call for sanity, moderation and caution in the handling of any sensitive information that may affect the development of the investigations, both in Colombia, Paraguay, and any other country,” the message states.
It adds that any proceedings against criminal groups “implicitly carries a risk for the relatives of the prosecutor Pecci”, as well as for the members of the public force that execute it.

“Given possible access to sensitive information, We urge you to reflect and weigh any eventual retaliation that this group of murderers may take against all of them.” emphasizes the statement.
The Colombian Police communicated yesterday the arrest of Margareth Lezeth Chacon Zuñiga (41), one of the last fugitives for the murder of Marcelo Pecci. The capture occurred in El Salvador, where the required one was taking refuge.
