The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, appointed the National Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Environmental Defense and Environmental Crime to investigate and sanction the facts related to the alleged commercialization of wildlife (macaws) crime considered serious in our legislation, since it constitutes one of the factors that affect the loss of biological diversity.
The information was provided in the Instagram social network account of the Public Ministry.
The event follows from a video that circulated in Tiktok and Instagram, where a man is allegedly observed in an area of the Antonio José de Sucre neighborhood, sector 2, lower part (“the grill”) of Terrazas del Ávila in Caracas, subjecting with a cloth a guacamaya that is on the floor and introduces it in a fabric bag.
According to the description made in the video, the AVE was introduced in a vehicle where an alleged buyer was.
After the video went viral, another circulated at night with another version, in which the Guacamaya was supposedly given to Inparques personnel in the Waraira Repano, since it is injured.
The Public Ministry will determine the responsibilities that may take place after the investigation it opened.
