The prosecutor of the nation, Delia Espinozahe referred to the trip to Swiss of the Minister of Justice, Juan José Santiváñezon whom an order to leave the country weighed. However, the provisional supreme judge Edhin Campos Barranzuela temporarily suspended the restriction.
The head of the Public Ministry assured that it cannot comment on cases outside its competence. “Legally all that has to be determined. There are controls that the Attorney General’s Office will exercise, the Court itself, in short. Each prosecutor responds for their case,” he said in RPP.
While Espinoza said that “the risk of escape may be,” he said that in the Supreme Court “they know what they are doing.”
“The Lord Santiváñez is simply a legal issue. The risk of escape may be, but if there is a jurisdictional authority, the Supreme Court, which has allowed it, they, well, already know what they are doing,” he said.
The minister travels from September 6 to 11 to Geneva, Switzerland to participate in the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
The journey was authorized by the Government through Supreme Resolution No. 190-2025-PCM, although Santiváñez had an impediment to exit from the country for 18 months, within the framework of the investigation against him for influence peddling.
