Marcelo Pecci, Paraguayan anti-drug prosecutor, was assassinated on Tuesday morning in the city of Cartagena. Two assassins arrived on a jet ski in Barú and fired three shots in the head at the official of the accusing entity of their country.

His crime has caused commotion both in Paraguay and in Colombia for being a human being who enjoyed his honeymoon with his wife on the paradisiacal island and for the relevance of his position.

Prosecutor Pecci was following the trail of at least five investigations of highly publicized events in Paraguay. One of them, well remembered by Colombians: the murder of the Paraguayan model, Vita Aranda, shot at a vallenato concert of the group ‘El Binomio de Oro’, a crime that occurred in San Bernardino, a city located 50 kilometers from the capital Asunción .

Pecci was assigned as one of the prosecutors in charge of this case that involved dangerous gangs dedicated to drug trafficking in his country.
It should be remembered that Vita Aranda, wife of Iván Torres, an Olimpia player, was fatally injured by a stray bullet in the middle of the shooting caused by a hitman at the José Asunción Flores amphitheater in San Bernardino.
That day two people died and five more were injured.
Days later and in the midst of his pain for this irreparable loss, Iván Torres asked the president of Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez, to fight drug trafficking.
That event where the model died, recorded on January 30 of this year, was attributed to a settling of accounts between Brazilian criminal factions operating in Paraguay, detailed the local media The nation.

The prosecutor Marcelo Pecci was also part of the operation “Ultimate PY” one of the biggest blows to drug trafficking in the history of his country, which brought losses to these criminal organizations for more than 250 million dollars.
In these operations, more than 25 people were arrested, including public officials and, in addition, luxury goods such as high-end cars, small planes and mansions of Paraguayan drug lords were seized.

The arrested people who were part of this criminal organization exported tons of cocaine manufactured in Colombia to Europe.
For this reason, it is not ruled out that the murder of prosecutor Pecci could be related to this operation carried out in February of this year in his country.
Another of the cases carried out by Pecci is the murder of four people, including the daughter of the governor of Amambay, when they were leaving a party in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, an event that occurred on October 12, 2021.
His file also included the case of the Brazilian citizen of Lebanese origin Kassen Mohamad Hijazi, detained in Ciudad del Este on August 24, 2021.
His arrest for extradition purposes to the United States was due to an investigation of Hijazi for alleged money laundering.
In addition to this, Pecci was handling the case of the crime of businessman Mauricio Schwartzman, shot to death in front of his home, a possible case of settling accounts for drug trafficking.
Regarding the crime of Marcelo Pecci in Colombia, the authorities have offered a reward of up to 2 billion pesos to capture the two assassins who killed him on the island of Barú.
One of them was recorded on a hotel surveillance camera and is currently being sought by the Colombian Police.
