The fiscal Marita Barretocoordinator of the Special Team against Power Corruption, referred to the release of Samir Abudayeh and Henry Shimabukuro, and said that they have “plausible elements” to request preventive detention against both investigated.
In dialogue with RPP Televisión, he indicated that they will not give up on their request for the restrictive measure to be issued against both characters, since the purpose of the preliminary arrest is to prevent a possible escape.
“No way [vamos a desistir de pedir prisión preventiva], we have plausible elements to request preventive detention. Precisely one of the foundations of the preliminary detention is to anticipate a future escape because the Public Ministry has already made progress in the investigations and plans to formulate some requirement, in addition to carrying out urgent and urgent procedures.he expressed.

Barreto questioned the decision of the First Criminal Appeals Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima to revoke the preliminary detention order for ten days against Abudayeh and Shimabukuro for considering it “inconsistent and inconsistent”.
“It is an incongruous and inconsistent decision that leaves a lot to be desired. I understand that this room is opposed to the search for the truth and, above all, to contribute to the clarification of the facts.”he stressed.
In this sense, the prosecutor defended the position of the Public Ministry to request preliminary detention because it is about “a measure contemplated in the law” and that you have a period of 10 days in order to carry out “urgent acts and avoid flight or obstructionist dangers” by those investigated.
