Duarte.- The prosecution He left under arrest the young man who physically assaulted another in a Higher Education center in the city of San Francisco de Macorís. The fact appears in an audiovisual that was broadcast on social networks.
The detainee is Steven Alberto, who in the video appears throwing the ground and punches the student Edgar Taveras. This happens on the campus of the Northeast Catholic University.
The Public Ministry of the judicial district of Duarte describes these actions as violating articles 309 and 310 of the Dominican Code of Procedure. The code punishes blows and wounds with premeditation and stalking.
The agency reported that in the next few hours it will deposit the request for coercive measures against Alberto. The young man is being held at the San Francisco de Macorís police station.
Appeared at the Prosecutor’s Office
Steven Alberto had voluntarily appeared before the courts in the company of his lawyer Luis Miguel Mercedes and his mother.
The young man refused to speak when he was transferred to the prosecutor’s office. There he was received by magistrate Smaylin Rodríguez, Duarte’s chief prosecutor.
Alberto’s legal representative asked that they guarantee his physical integrity. He disclosed to prosecutor Rodríguez the threats generated on social networks by the actions of his client.
The defendant’s mother said she was sorry about the situation.
