In the middle of the week, the 2022 National Intelligence Plan was leaked to the press, which guides state agencies and agencies such as the Police, Foreign Affairs, Defense, Customs, the National Drug Board (JND), and others.
The document consists of 14 pages and 2 annexes, one of them referring to the Collection Plan and the other to the Counterintelligence Plan.
It also provides tools to the National Secretariat for the Fight against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (SENACLAFT), the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU), the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), the National Drug Board and the Agency Electronic Government and Information and Knowledge Society (AGESIC).
The leak of this information, marked as confidential, generated annoyance in the government and the subsequent complaint before the justice of the director of the Secretary of Strategic Intelligence of the State of the government of Luis Lacalle Pou, Álvaro Garcé.
The court prosecutor, Juan Gómez, referred the complaint to the Department of Purging, Prioritization and Assignment (DPA) which assigned it to the 3rd shift Prosecutor for Economic and Complex Crimes, in charge of prosecutor Gilberto Rodríguez.
Ask them to open their phones
This Thursday afternoon, the Vice President of the Republic, Beatriz Argimón, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Ope Pasquet, led a meeting with the coordinators of the parliamentary benches of all the parties, in which the leak was discussed. of the mentioned information.
After the meeting, Argimón asked the legislators who were at the meeting of the
The Control and Supervision Commission of the National State Intelligence System, attended by Garcé, to go to the Prosecutor’s Office that is investigating what happened and that they allow access to their cell phones, in order to “contribute” to the investigation.
The coordinator of the Broad Front bench, Liliam Kechichian, was in agreement with the proposal, “because the ultimate goal is to know the truth about this sad episode.” However, he believes that focusing attention on Parliament is incorrect because they are not the only people who had access to the document: “We think that this document has circulated and the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Foreign Ministry have also had access. , the Ministry of Economy and many of the agencies that coordinate with the State Strategic Intelligence Service”, he emphasized.
“Traceability, for us, was not guaranteed by director Garcé and, in that sense, it seems to us that there would also be a door of certain vulnerability there,” added Kechichian.
“We believe that we should not be the only ones but that there should be other State agencies that should also be investigated,” he continued.
