The Third Superior Prosecutor’s Office against Organized Crime archived the case initiated against the leader of Fuerza Popular, Keiko Fujimorifor alleged purchase of votes to win the 2021 general elections.
In the tax provision of February 6, to which Peru21 agreed, it is indicated that there is no evidence that there was an agreement between those investigated to enter the country one million 250 thousand dollars that would belong to the convicted former president Alberto Fujimori.
According to the complaint, the businessman Dionisio Romero would have participated in these operations; Luis Galarreta, general secretary of the political party; Fujimoristas Pier Figari and Ana Hertz de Vega; as well as the head of the National Election Jury (JNE), Jorge Salas Arenas, and the head of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Piero Corvetto.
“The existence of coordinations for a joint illegal current does not emerge; The truth is that this plurality of people was not attributed to having carried out specific acts constituting a crime”, reads the resolution regarding the alleged criminal organization.
Likewise, regarding the crime of induction to vote, the Prosecutor’s Office indicated that “there is no element of conviction that can minimally prove the commission of the crime described.”
This criminal process is different from the accusation that Fujimori Higuchi faces for the illegal financing of his 2011 and 2016 presidential campaigns. This case is one step away from reaching trial.
