In 2022, the players had to face precautionary measures ordered by a Family Court that included the prohibition of approaching or communicating with the complainants

The Prosecutor for Sexual Crimes in charge of Maximiliano Sosa decided archive the investigation against the former Peñarol soccer players Walter Gargano and Lucas Viatri, who had been denounced by sexual harassment during a party held by the club on March 8, 2022 in a hall of Malvín.
This was reported by Telemundo and confirmed The Observer with legal sources. From the Prosecutor’s Office they assured that Sosa requested the file of this case about two weeks ago, because he understood that there was not enough evidence to request the imputation of the two soccer players.
The victims, they recalled from the Prosecutor’s Office, have 30 days to request re-examination before the file decision. They have not yet, they added.
The players had been denounced for gender violence and harassmentafter two girls pointed out to them for having sexually harassed them at the private party organized by the footballers of the aurinegro team.
As a result of this complaint, the soccer players had to face a series of precautionary measures ordered by the Specialized Family judge, Lilián Elhorriburu, who prohibited in June 2022 that Peñarol players Lucas Viatri and Walter Gargano come within 500 meters of the complainants or communicate with them until December 30, 2022.
That same judge had ordered that the complainants be referred to the Women’s Commune or to the specialized domestic violence teams of your health center, according to the judicial provision.
