Prosecutor Enrique Rodríguez definitely files the case of Antel Arena after Reexamen

Prosecutor Enrique Rodríguez again filed the case of the alleged irregularities and cost overruns in the construction of the Antel Arena, after a reexamal of the investigation. This was reported by the Communication Director of Prosecutor’s Office, Javier Benech.

This case had been initially filed in February 2024 by the Prosecutor of Economic Crimes, Alejandro Machado. However, in 2024, the current Board of Directors requested a review of the file, arguing that new documents and testimonies were not taken into account in the first investigation.

The original complaint, filed by authorities of the Administration of Antel in 2021, pointed to alleged irregularities in the construction process of the Antel Arena. The former president of Antel, Gabriel Gurméndez, who led the complaint, said at the time that there was an irregular management of public resources by authorities that did not respect the legal procedures. For its part, Carolina Cosse, president of Antel during construction, described the complaint as a “political operation.”

Despite the reopening of the case, prosecutor Rodriguez determined that there were not enough elements to advance the investigation, leaving the case filed once more.
