Supreme Judge Saúl Peña heard the arguments of the Prosecutor’s Office this afternoon to decide whether the prosecutor Elizabeth Peraltawho is being investigated in the Chibolín case, will or will not be in preventive detention.

In the hearing that took place on November 8, the Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court ratified the detention of Andres Hurtadobut the judges could not agree on Peralta’s prison. Two voted for the preventive measure and three opposed it.
That is why the court agreed to call Supreme Magistrate Saúl Peña Farfán to settle the vote. Peña called the hearing that was held this afternoon.
Prosecutor Alejandra Cárdenas, in charge of the case, exposed three different facts attributed to Peralta Santur related to the crimes of corruption and influence peddling.
He mentioned that Peralta influenced prosecutor Lucio Sal y Rosas so that he proceeded with the return of the gold to Javier Miu Lei’s company.
Cárdenas said that, in the first request for preventive detention, the judge did not consider the danger of obstruction and obstruction of the truth when prosecutor Peralta did not hand over one of the cell phones she used.
For his part, Peralta’s lawyer, Benji Espinoza, told the judge that the evidence collected by the Prosecutor’s Office was manipulated and adulterated when they had the unexpected visit to the money laundering prosecutor’s office.
“There is confusion in the minority position of the judges. There is no dilatory or obstructionist behavior. In relation to the manuscript, I agree with prosecutor Cárdenas that they took the paper out of my client’s wallet. Prosecutor Peralta herself participated in the virtual diligence alleging that one of the cell phones she used was not delivered because she did not have it with her because she dropped it and it was sent to be repaired by her daughter.

As recalled, prosecutor Peralta is known as Chibolín’s ‘mother’ thanks to another of the facts considered in the tax request according to one of the witnesses, and is being investigated for alleged influence peddling and corruption.
She would have used her position to intervene in court cases in exchange for payments and favors, with audio recordings and key witnesses implicating her, for example, in her influence in returning the gold to the mining company of businessman Javier Miu Lei, an acquaintance of Hurtado. .
