The Prosecutor of the Nation Delia Espinoza appeared on Sunday End Point to refer to the latest events that have occurred in the country, especially regarding the investigations into President Dina Boluarte and the controversial rule on preliminary detention.
In that sense, the prosecutor indicated that she is willing to continue with the investigative work towards the president, who a few days ago publicly asked her to call her to give her version of the events.
“I have already signed the resolution setting the date for the president to be summoned for January 2,” he said, adding that that date was decided because “we are careful and respectful of the deadlines.”
Espinoza clarified that he is not being investigated for having committed a cosmetic surgery but for allegedly having abandoned his position without having communicated.
PRELIMINARY DETENTION
Likewise, he spoke about the elimination of the preliminary detention enacted by the Congress of the Republic, which has now been restored after criticism.
“(The elimination) is in force and until it is formally revoked and the original text is recovered, and we hope that the original text is recovered, we hope that there are no surprise modifications, that there are no requirements, but that the text is returned with which we have been working on,” he added.
Finally, he criticized the actions of the Legislative and Executive branches, stating that there would be a intimidation of prosecutors.
“I fear that legislation is being legislated too hastily or even with improvisation. The persecution of justice operators is being exacerbated with non-objective issues, with issues that would seek to intimidate,” he concluded.
