The Office of the Attorney General of the Nation together with the Secretary of the Environment are investigating the case of 15 dogs found lifeless in the town of Ciudad Bolívarafter the denunciations of the citizenship that demand more support on the part of the authorities.
According to the local administration, on Sunday, April 2, a group of animal rescuers contacted the Ciudad Bolívar mayor’s office to report the discovery of the bodies of the dogs. That same day, the Prosecutor’s Office team carried out an on-site visit to verify the situation and receive the complaint from the community.
Given this, the Secretary of the Environment, Carolina Urrutia, mentioned that the competent authorities are searching for those responsible for the case, arguing that they would have been homeless animals, which are more vulnerable.

“We are saddened and reject the unfortunate events that occurred in Ciudad Bolívar, where several canine corpses were found. We call on the judicial authorities to carry out the investigation and find those responsible for these acts that outrage us as a society“, held.
He also explained: “We are aware of the situation suffered by animals living on the streets, the most vulnerable, and we face it with hard work, optimizing resources and prioritizing areas: In Ciudad Bolívar we advanced with more than 10,000 animals sterilized at critical points“.

According to the director of the GELMA group of the Prosecutor’s Office, Alejandro Gaviria, The investigation into these events that occurred on April 2 is already underwayto have results in the next few days together with the Bogotá Metropolitan Police.
The secretary concluded that animal protection also requested coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office to make itself available to support the investigation, in order to not leave this fact unpunished.
