The end of the 6-day working day for a day of rest gained prominence this Sunday (10) on social media. The debate on the proposal came first in the topics most discussed by internet users on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
The extinction of the 6×1 journey is part of a Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) presented by deputy Érica Hilton (PSOL-SP) in the Chamber of Deputies.
The parliamentarian has been engaging on social media to pressure deputies to sign the request for support for the PEC, which needs 171 signatures to be officially presented. So far, Érica has received half of the necessary support.
According to the deputy, the 6×1 scale is inhumane. “This takes away the worker’s right to spend time with his family, to take care of himself, to have fun, to look for another job or even to qualify for a better job. The 6×1 scale is a prison, and it is incompatible with dignity of the worker”, said the deputy on social media.
The proposal from the Life Beyond Work Movement (VAT), led by elected councilor Rick Azevedo (PSOL-RJ), received the support of the deputy to put pressure on parliamentarians. The movement has already received 1.3 million petition signatures online in defense of the proposal.
According to the text of the Constitution and the Consolidation of Labor Laws (CLT), the working day cannot exceed eight hours per day and 44 hours per week, with compensation of working hours and reduction of working hours being possible, through an agreement or collective convention of work.
