Proof of INSS life will be required again in 2022

Retirees and pensioners of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) need to pay attention in 2022. Proof of life is mandatory again, after three months of suspension. The procedure is necessary to maintain the benefit payment.Proof of INSS life will be required again in 2022

Between March 2020 and May 2021, the life test was suspended because of the covid-19 pandemic. THE procedure was resumed in June of last year, but suspended again in October, after Congress overturned President Jair Bolsonaro’s veto on a law that removed mandatory proof of life in 2021.

According to the INSS, around 3.3 million policyholders need to take, between January and April, proof of life for 2021. Pension and pension payments will begin to be suspended in February.

Calendar

To avoid crowding at bank branches, the agency established a schedule based on the month of birth. The dates were divided as follows.

Proof of life expired from November 2020 to June 2021
Re-registration deadline: January

Proof of life expired in July and August 2021
Re-registration deadline: February

Proof of life expired in September and October 2021
Re-registration deadline: March

Proof of life expired in November and December 2021
Re-registration deadline: April

How to make

The proof of life of the INSS must be made at the bank responsible for paying the benefit. The procedure can be done at ATMs using biometrics or in person, at bank branches. Some financial institutions offer the service on the internet banking or in the app.

Policyholders with facial biometrics registered at the National Traffic Department (Denatran) or at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) can electronically take the proof of life in the Meu INSS application. Seniors over 80 or people with limited mobility can request a home visit. In this case, it is necessary to schedule a time by calling 135 or from app My INSS.

Phases

Failure to register does not imply immediate cancellation of the benefit. Before that, there are two steps: blocking and suspension of payment. Anyone who has their benefit suspended in February will enter the suspension stage three months later. If you still do not update the data in this second step, the benefit will be cancelled.

Reactivation

Policyholders with blocked and suspended benefits can reactivate them directly at the bank. In case of cancellation, the insured will have to call the 135 center and schedule the benefit reactivation service. This procedure can also be done through the My INSS application. After accessing the Meu INSS with the CPF number and the registered password, search for Reactivar Benefício, in the magnifying glass.

Inactive civil servants (retired and pensioners) and political amnesty followed a different re-registration schedule. For these categories, the deadline for taking the 2021 life test expired on December 31st.
