Within the framework of the Day of Good Deeds, this Saturday, April 2, starting at 9 a.m., Habitat for Humanity Paraguay will close the Health to Water Campaign, delivering the works carried out in the Ma. Auxiliadora de Luque community , work carried out with the support of allies and donors, which made it possible to improve access to water and sanitation and hygiene conditions for 33 families in this community and another 20 families in the community of San Cayetano.
The adequate sanitation campaign called “Salud al Agua”, undertaken by Habitat for Humanity Paraguay, began in October 2021 with a fundraising phase.
This campaign received the support of numerous individual donors and 12 companies: Solar SA, Ferremarket, Cerámica Irene – Innova, Comercial San Cayetano, Financiera El Comercio, Record Electric, Vision Banco, Chacomer, Comagro, ADM, Inverfin and Cargill. They also supported the sister offices of Habitat for Humanity in Guatemala and St. Vrain Valley in the State of Colorado (USA).
The works and activities that facilitated this campaign were:
– Improvements in the infrastructure of 54 bathrooms (34 in María Auxiliadora and 20 in San Cayetano). The beneficiary families received materials such as sand, cement, lime, pipes, sinks, toilets, tiles, showers, as well as expert labor to carry out their works. 9 people from the community worked as masons and 2 women worked on the repair. of their bathrooms.
– Innovation with the implementation of biodigesters and the construction of soaking wells, reducing the contamination of the soil and the water tables of the Patiño aquifer.
– Installation of a 2,000-liter water reservoir tank in the María Auxiliadora community center that will provide the vital liquid to homes at critical times, thus overcoming the frequent cuts in basic service.
– Installation of 5 community garbage dumps with a waste management plan at the community level with the 3R methodology, reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
– Training workshops to raise awareness on the proper use of water, and the use and maintenance of sanitary systems, as well as on waste management and the creation of a waste management plan for the community.

Good Deeds Day is celebrated on April 3 worldwide. Habitat for Humanity Paraguay joins in this celebration with the families of the Ma. Auxiliadora de Luque community, with the happiness of completing the home bathroom improvement works and the installation of a community tank.
The Day of Good Deeds, aims to motivate people to improve the quality of life of others without receiving anything in return, it seeks to have a fairer world with equal opportunities for all.
