The case of the girl Vilma Briones Arvizú moved hundreds of Nicaraguans; The little girl was facing terminal stage lymphatic cancer, living with her family in a small and humble home in a risk area of the Santa Teresita community, in the municipality of Santa María de Pantasma, department of Jinotega.
In the vulnerable home they even lacked beds, since their economic resources were very limited, which forced Vilmita, in the midst of her multiple sufferings, to have to sleep in a hammock.
The young altruists of the Mi Corazón es tu Corazón Foundation found out about the case and started a collection with which they managed to guarantee food, medicine, toys, beds and medical attention. In addition, they decided to move them to live in a safe area, with the promise of building their own home.

Vilmita was 10 years old when the Foundation heard about her case, shortly after she turned 11, on May 8, and they held an emotional celebration for her. In the midst of what she was experiencing, she was always full of courage, hope and joy, managing to face cancer for 5 years after being evicted.
The construction of the new house for this family began between May and June of this year, at the same time the girl received treatment and medical attention, however, one day it got complicated, she had to be admitted and died in the hospital on June 5.
Despite his death, the Foundation decided to continue building the house, since the rest of the family also needed it and it would be Vilmita’s gift for their loved ones, as indicated by the young Nery Giovanny Altamirano, a member of said entity. beneficial.
After several months the goal was met and recently they gave the humble family their new home, where they will have better living conditions.
Mr. Dagoberto Briones and Mrs. Apolonia Arvizú are Vilmita’s parents, they reported that the girl is their second child to die from this type of cancer, which has been tragic and painful for them. They also indicated that “for the first time we have had help like this, I had another situation like this, but for the first time we have help. We thank everyone who has supported us. The house is very nice and it is a great help for the family”, said Don Dagoberto.
For his part, Nery Giovanny Altamirano, director of the Mi Corazón Es Tu Corazón Foundation, added that between 7,000 and 8,000 dollars were needed to complete the construction of this house, which is the seventh house donated by this altruistic group with donations from the population. .
“We do not ask, we do not have our own funds, we work based on the will of the people, that is, we upload each case and each person decides if they want to support and how they are going to do it. These homes are donated with public deeds with a non-disposal clause, they cannot be sold, given away, etc., ensuring that the contribution of the people who have helped us is really valid”, explained Nery.
He also announced that “this house is 6 by 6 meters, made with quarried stone, plenty of iron, a floor, a new roof. We are happy to know that this family received with joy this enormous gift from all of us who came together to be able to provide them with decent housing. We are also happy to know that we are productive in society, improving the style of many families, something that we have been doing since the year 2017”.
