Promipyme provides financing of RD$31.5 million to merchants affected by fire in Santiago

Promipyme entrega financiamiento de RD$31.5 millones a comerciantes afectados por incendio en Santiago

Santiago.-The National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Promipyme), yesterday delivered RD$31.5 million as financing to merchants affected by the fire that occurred in Plaza Lorenzo Vargas (Plaza Valerio) in Santiagowithin the framework of a support plan for the recovery of its commercial activities.

The credit has been managed through the Disaster Emergency Fundwith favorable conditions that include amounts of up to RD$1,500,000, interest rates of 12% annually, terms of up to 60 months and a grace period of up to 4 months. In addition, they have the support of solidarity guarantees and the endorsement of the Mayor’s Office of Santiago.

The activity was headed by the director of Promipyme, Fabricio Gómez Mazara and was attended by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, the provincial governor of Santiago Rosa Santos, the mayor of the city, Ulises Rodríguez and the director Regional Industry and Commerce, Víctor García Sued.

During the event, it was confirmed that a total of 32 businessmen have benefited from this financing program, in a first stage, reaching a cumulative amount of RD$31.5 million.

The director of Promipyme, Fabricio Gómez Mazara, highlighted the government’s commitment to the economic recovery of those affected.

«This financial support is not only immediate relief, but a real boost so that our entrepreneurs can resume their activities and continue contributing to the commercial dynamism of Santiago. In difficult times, the State must be present, and today we reaffirm that commitment.”

For his part, the minister Ito Bisonó highlighted the importance of this type of measures to strengthen the business ecosystem of the Dominican Republic, ensuring that work will continue on strategies to support micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in emergency situations.

At the meeting held in the Juan Pablo Duarte Hall of the Provincial Government of Santiago, Governor Rosa Santos and Mayor Ulises Rodríguez highlighted the initiative as an incentive for the recovery of commercial activities.
