The directors of the Livestock Improvement Program of the Dominican Republic (Promegan), met with the livestock associations of El Catey, in Samaná, and Nagua, in the María Trinidad Sánchez province, in search of solutions to the situation left for Hurricane Fiona.
During the uprising, Promegan executives listened to the concerns of ranchers affected by the natural phenomenon and said that government aid will arrive in these areas as soon as possible.
“The will of President Luis Abinader is that everything reaches those who need it most with justice; the emergency cannot wait. From the Government we are committed to solving the problems of the country’s ranchers”; said Eric Rivero, agricultural advisor to the Executive Branch.
On his side, the Executive Director of Conaleche, Miguel Laureano, maintained that they will give a grace to the affected ranchers who have loans in the entity so that they can restart with the payment of their commitments as of January. “You are not alone, count on us,” he added.
While Geovanny Molina, general director of Livestock, guaranteed that the aid will arrive, and “we will not forget the farmers affected by Fiona; President Abinader is aware of the situation they are going through and will give an immediate response.”

The president of the Cibao Livestock Federation (Fegacibao), Arismendy Rodriguez, speaking on behalf of all the ranchers present, he maintained that it is the “first time in history that the authorities come to the producers, that they should not be called. That speaks very well of this commission and the work that the Government is doing and for the record that I am not a politician”.
Through Promegan, more than 3,000 land tasks are being prepared in the Nagua and Samaná areas for the improvement and promotion of pasture; 200,000 non-reimbursable pesos have been granted to collection centers to change the energy matrix and tube wells are being built in the sites affected by the drought.
Luis Sánchez Falette and Henry Ruiz, deputy director and northeast regional director of Livestock, respectively, also participated in the meetings; Ruddy Espinal, president of the Association of Small Ranchers of El Catey, and Dr. Jimmy Acosta, president of the Association of Ranchers of María Trinidad Sánchez, Deputy Jorge Cavoli, among others.
