Project to regulate technological platforms goes to second debate

Judith Pena | April 25, 2023

The president of the Communication and Transportation Commission of the National Assembly Abel Becker vehemently defended Bill 986 that regulates the use of technological platforms for the transportation service, to the point of interrupting the moment of the use of the word of the deputy Raúl Fernández who requested that the creation of a subcommittee be put to the vote to discuss the project in depth.

After the heated discussion among the parliamentarians, they voted for the creation of the subcommittee, but with 4 votes against and 3 in favor, the debate on the norm continued without this subcommittee being created.

The project, which would force digital platform drivers to have the endorsement of lenders, was approved in the first debate with 5 votes in favor. Discussion will be given soon in the second debate.

After the approval in the first debate of bill 986, the leader of public transport users Luis Torres assured that they disagree with this norm because they consider it without consultation.
