Project makes official photos Fathers of the Nation

A bill that formalizes the photos and images of the Fathers of the Nation and the Heroes of the Restoration, national symbols with history and patriotism of the Dominican people, was submitted to the Chamber of Deputies by the president of the Justice Commission of the organization, Alexis Jiménez.

It is contemplated that whoever confronts his image, as well as that of the national symbols, would face a prison sentence of one to three months and a fine equivalent to thirty to fifty minimum wages or both at the same time.

He added that it is determined by this law that no national or foreign citizen can create an image, bust or creative art of the Fathers of the Nation and the Heroes of the Restoration for exhibition purposes, without prior request and subsequent approval by of the Permanent Commission of National Ephemerides, who will finally certify it, if it meets the requirements of historically proven traits and relationships.

“Any photo and image of the Fathers of the Nation and the Heroes of the Restoration that is deteriorated, broken, discolored or in poor condition must be incinerated, observing solemnity and respect for it,” establishes article 10 of the proposal.

It adds: “It is forbidden to cut into pieces, destroy, throw in the trash, burn or dirty with mud, or in any other way, the photos and images of the Fathers of the Nation and the Heroes of the Restoration. For this, only the application of article 10 of this law will be used.

Paragraph one of article 2 of the piece presented by Jiménez, establishes that the Permanent Commission of National Ephemerides will create an official catalog of photos and images of the Fathers of the Nation and the Heroes of the Restoration, as well as the busts, drawings and all creative types of art that symbolize or manifest their image.
