Proinvestment reported that in 2025 it will award 10 projects in the sector transportation for more than US$3,000 million. The list includes nine road works for US$2,828 million and the Chimbote port terminal for US$331 million.

The road projects include the Longitudinal de la Sierra Section 4 (US$1,582 million), whose award is scheduled for the first quarter and will benefit 1.6 million inhabitants in Junín, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho and Apurímac.
In addition to seven road corridors of Group 1 for US$1,134 million (Cusco, Cerro de Pasco, Puno, Moquegua, Tarma, Huancayo and Tarapoto), and the Zapallal – Avenida Gambeta road (tunnel) in the port of Callao (US$ 112 million ).
The executive director of Proinversión, José Salardi, stated that in 2024 the transportation sector led the portfolio of awards under the Public Private Partnerships (PPP) modality and reached a total of US$4,366 million.
He explained that these are historic megaprojects that will have a significant impact on the country and that they have been waiting many years for their development, such as the Peripheral Road Ring (US$3,396 million), New Port Terminal of San Juan de Marcona (US$405 million) and Huancayo Huancavelica Railway or “Macho Train” (US$565 million)
The Peripheral Road Ring will benefit 4.5 million residents of Lima and Callao with the construction, operation and maintenance of a modern 34.8 km highway that will interconnect 11 districts in the capital. The project, awarded to the Cintra, Acciona and Sacyr consortium, will significantly reduce travel times from Ate Vitarte to Independencia to 15 minutes and from San Juan de Lurigancho to Independencia to 5 minutes. In addition, it will generate 70,000 direct and indirect jobs during its construction and another 20,000 in operation.
Meanwhile, the New San Juan de Marcona Port Terminal megaproject will boost the development of the south of the country by having a multipurpose infrastructure that will benefit 29 provinces of Arequipa, Ayacucho, Apurímac, Cusco and Ica. In addition, it will stimulate complementary investments such as the Andahuaylas-Marcona Railway.
For its part, the modernization of the Huancayo – Huancavelica Railway, an emblematic transportation infrastructure that is close to celebrating 100 years of operations, through the award to the Concesionaria Ferroviaria del Centro Consortium and which will benefit 1.2 million inhabitants of Junín and Huancavelica.
