At the end of 2024, the Center for Industrial Development and Competitiveness (Proindustria) celebrates a year “full of achievements that have marked a before and after in the strengthening of the industrial sector” in the country.
“These initiatives have had a positive impact on job creation, innovation and economic sustainability, reaffirming its commitment to the comprehensive development of the Dominican Republic,” the institution said in a press release.

One of the most notable milestones of the year was the holding of the IV Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair, which brought together more than 5,000 attendees and presented innovative projects designed to improve the competitiveness of the industrial sector.
In addition, Proindustria consolidated the Manufacturing Entrepreneur Award and the Recognition for Industrial Innovation, rewarding companies and entrepreneurs whose contributions have promoted creative and sustainable solutions. During these fairs and activities, hundreds of temporary jobs and connection opportunities were created for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
The promotion of regional development was another of the key focuses in 2024. The construction of important infrastructures began in Hato Mayor and San Juan, including new industrial warehouses that generated more than 1,400 direct and indirect jobs and successful job fairs were held in Esperanza , Valverde province and Matanzas, Peravia province, providing job opportunities to more than 2,000 people.
Likewise, the rehabilitation of the Quisqueya Free Trade Zone in San Pedro de Macorís marks the beginning of a stage of industrial growth that will benefit hundreds of families.
In the social sphere, Proindustria continued to promote equity with the Promujeres Industriales program, which trained and provided financial support to more than 500 women entrepreneurs. This effort, accompanied by inclusive policies, reaffirms the institution’s commitment to gender equality and strengthening the female business network in the country.
Transparency and ethics were also pillars in 2024. Proindustria achieved a score of 98.82 in government transparency monitoring, positioning itself as one of the leading institutions in accountability and access to public information. This achievement adds to the efforts made during Ethics Week, which promoted integrity in public management.
At a communication level, Proindustria reinforced its presence on digital platforms, achieving more than 68,000 interactions on social networks and consolidating its institutional identity through targeted campaigns. These actions have made it possible to bring the advances and services offered by the institution closer to citizens.
To close the year with a flourish, after a meeting between the general director Rafael Cruz Rodríguez and the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo de los Santos and Alfredo Pacheco, respectively, the deputies approved last Tuesday, December 17, single reading 48 real estate sales contracts in the Santo Domingo Oeste Industrial District (DISDO), administered by Proindustria. This historic decision will allow us to continue promoting economic growth through the expansion of the industrial sector in the capital.
Likewise, approval was achieved for the donation by the Dominican State to Proindustria of the land in the San Pedro de Macorís free zone.
The general director of Proindustria, Rafael Cruz Rodríguez, highlighted the impact of these initiatives: “In 2024 we have shown that, by working together, we can transform the industrial sector and generate opportunities for all Dominicans. We are proud to be part of our country’s progress and we will continue to promote projects that promote innovation and competitiveness.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Proindustria plans to continue strengthening its leadership in industrial development, with new projects, fairs, recognitions and a firm commitment to sustainability and inclusion. The institution reaffirms its commitment to continue being a fundamental pillar for the economic growth of the Dominican Republic.
