Progressive Advanced urges Petro to be “relentless” in the Monómeros case

AP rejects government-affected violence against Guaidó

Progressive Advanced reminded Gustavo Petro of a tweet, before he was a presidential candidate, where he refers to the situation of Monómeros. They also pointed out that he must be alert to the “juggling of Venezuelan internal politics.” Another of the points expressed in the letter is that the protection of Venezuelan migrants be maintained.

The match Advanced Progressive (AP) sent a letter on August 10 to the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, with the aim of making him “relentless” with the “false opposition leaders” who have taken charge of Monómeros Colombo Venezolanos SA

“Dr. We strongly urge Petro to be relentless in the persecution of all those white-collar criminals and false Venezuelan political leaders who squandered and ruined one of the most prosperous companies in the agricultural field, such as Monómeros, Colombo Venezolanos SA,” says part of the letter. AP, signed by its secretary general Luis Augusto Romero.

Avanzada reminded Petro of a tweet, before he was a presidential candidate, where he refers to the situation of Monómeros. She also pointed out that she must be alert to the “juggling of Venezuelan internal politics” to prevent “the culprits from coming out unscathed and ending up as presidential candidates.”

On August 8, Petro stated that Monómeros was an “issue that concerns him”, so it will be a priority item on his agenda to resolve. In old statements he has hinted that he will return the Pequiven subsidiary to President Nicolás Maduro.

One day after the declarations of the Colombian president, the Superintendency of Companies decided to exonerate Monomers “from the degree of supervision of control”, so it will be supervised and monitored like any other company subject to regulation.

The company was in a “critical financial and economic situation”, as determined by the supervisory body at the time of taking control. Monómeros covers about 37% of the market demand for manure and fertilizers in Colombia.

It has been in the hands of the administration of representatives of Juan Guaidó since 2019, after the recognition of Iván Duque as interim president of Venezuela. During this time, possible irregularities in its handling have been reported.

Migrant protection

Another of the points expressed in the letter is that the protection of Venezuelan migrants be maintained. According to Migration Colombia, until July more than two million 500 thousand compatriots were registered in that country.

“Immigrants simply need the security of their stay and the legalization of their stay. already the future
It will correct the migratory currents from one nation to another that yesterday were the majority from Colombia and today are from Venezuela,” the letter says.

Advanced Progressive also asks to “trust in the good faith” of migrants and refugees, since they consider that they are “driven both by the need to build a promising future, as well as by the fact of living through one of the unprecedented political and economic crises in Venezuela”.
