Luis Augusto Romero stated that Avanzada Progresista is a space for plurality, inclusion and debate. For his part, Antonio Ecarri insists on the need for a “solid popular majority” to win elections
party leaders Advanced Progressive and the Pencil Alliance met on the afternoon of Monday, April 11, to discuss various points of view, in which they expressed consensus, in the face of what would be the primary elections with the aim of unitary candidate for the presidential elections of 2024.
Luis Augusto Romero, general secretary of Avanzada Progresista, indicated that the meeting with Pencil took place after previous conversations and consultations that were carried out between the two groups and expressed his desire that they continue to agree on approaches and proposals with the party led by Antonio Ecarri.
In this sense, he stressed that the blue awning will make a series of invitations to various political, union, trade union leaders and other social fighters “who want to contribute” to the country and who have ideas to improve Venezuela, with a view to becoming a ” power alternative.
Similarly, he stressed that the political party he chairs –after the fracture registered with the founding leader of that organization, Henri Falcón– constitutes an “open space for political debate, plurality, inclusion and people”.

For his part, the president of the Pencil Alliance, Antonio Ecarri, thanked Romero and Avanzada Progresista for the “opportunity” to discuss various issues of national interest, which in his opinion “are little touched on”, such as the future of the oil industry, the needs and expectations of Venezuelans.
In that sense, he expressed feeling “hopeful” that a “great independent center” will be consolidated in the country that includes all the sectors that derive from the popular consultation. “We need consensus, but not to seize or hijack power, but to build a solid popular majority, of popular hope, that will make the next government inaugurated in 2024 one of popular national consensus,” he said.
He assured that it is necessary for the country to have a “solid popular majority” that leads the opposition parties to win elections and “govern in a democracy.”

After running as a presidential candidate for 2024 and clarifying that he did so as a form of “pressure” for the opposition, Antonio Ecarri carries the preaching of carrying out an “open consultation” to choose a single candidate who is measured against the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, at the polls.
“It is necessary that we can hold an open consultation very soon so that all Venezuelans can give their opinion on who their next president can be. Let’s not just choose a losing candidate (…) We at Pencil are inclusive, we want everyone to feel included in a national, democratic and popular consultation so that we can choose here who will represent us in the next elections in 2024 “, added in early April.
