Since the institution announced, on November 26, a new call for candidates for agents In the Dominican Republic, dozens of young people show up daily with their documents in hand, with the aim of becoming part of the institution.
A team of Free Diary interviewed several applicantswho, for the most part, expressed being motivated by having family or friends within the ranks of the National Police. In addition, they highlighted that they seek to study and develop professionally, attracted by the opportunities that the institution offers its members.
The applicants, between 18 and 30 years old (maximum age allowed), come from various regions, highlighting the aforementioned locations.This group breaks with the tradition that the majority of applicants They used to be originally from the south of the country.
Some of the applicants mention having non-visible tattoos, which does not represent an impediment to entering the institution. In this regard, the National Police only prohibits tattoos that are related to criminal activities, such as marijuana leaves, among others.
When consulting with those interested, they indicated having completed high school, and some mentioned being university students.
Although the majority of those who go to Recruitment Department of the National Police are men, a significant number of women also participate in the process.
A curious fact is that some do not know their height.
Some of the applicants
Yismeiry Pérez, 22 years old, went to the scene with the intention of being part of the School Police. However, they informed him that another call will be made for that area, the date of which has not yet been set. Pérez resides in Santo Domingo Este.
The young woman has tattoos on a non-visible part of her body, which, as confirmed by the recruitment manager, does not represent an impediment to running for office.
Samuel Peguero, 18 years old, arrived from the Consuelo municipality, in the San Pedro de Macorís province. He expressed his desire to contribute the best of himself and become an example for young people upon entering the institution. His height is six feet and two inches.
In the case of Arismendi Mojica Gómez, who is of the maximum age to be an applicant for a member of the National Police, pointed out that he had already tried to enter before, but was not accepted due to a hole in his earring.
The young man also recently had to undergo surgery to remove a pearl in his genital area, which was not accepted by the institution. Mojica Gómez came from San Pedro de Macorís, motivated by a friend who is a colonel of the institution.
Jeury José López, 23 years old, he expressed that being part of the National Police is a dream for him. In addition, he mentioned that he promised his parents never to commit a crime, so it would be a pride for him if his mother saw him in uniform.
“For me it is a pride that my mother sees me in uniform and that she knows that her son will never commit a crime on the street, that he will not be a criminal,” he said.
More than 10 thousand women are waiting
Dozens of women have responded to the call to join the National Police. Due to the large number of applicants, many of them enter a bank of eligibleand will be integrated as the institution requires it.
At the moment, more than 10,000 women are waiting to join the ranks of the National Police.
