Ifigenia Martínez studied Economics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and continued his training at Harvard University, where he obtained a master’s degree in Economics.
In the political arena, Ifigenia Martínez has been a prominent figure. He was a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and later founded, together with Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD).
