Gertz Manero worked as an employee at the Casa Sommer, Herrmann y Compañía hardware store, inherited from his grandfather Cornelius B. Gertz, where he started as a counter dispatcher and worked his way up to management.

After the death of Federico Gertz in 2015, Alejandro Gertz denounced Laura Morán, his former sister-in-law, and her daughter, accusing them of alleged homicide by omission, accusing them of having neglected his medical care.

The laws captivated him, so he studied at the Free School of Law; He continued in this area at the doctoral level at three institutions: the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the University of the Americas and the University of Mount Union, in the United States.

The classrooms received him to teach at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), UNAM; He taught the Criminal Procedure Law class at the University of the Americas where he rose to become rector.

Career and previous positions

According to Wikileaks revelations, Gerzt Manero headed Operation Condor during the six-year term of Luis Echeverria Álvarez (1970-1976), whose objective was for the Mexican Armed Forces in conjunction with the Drug Control Administration (DEA) to eliminate marijuana crops in the golden triangle (Sinaloa, Chihuahua and Durango).

He worked in the administrations of Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, Rosario Robles and Andrés Manuel López Obrador when they served as heads of government of the then Federal District. He headed the Ministry of Public Security between the years (1998-2004).

During the six-year term of the PAN member Vicente Fox, he served as head of the newly created Secretariat of Public Security, of which he was the first head; That is, he worked with holders of different party flags, both on the left in CDMX, with Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and Rosario Robles, until seeing the change in power at the federal level of the PRI, the hegemonic party.
