MIAMI, United States. – Professor Alina Bárbara López Hernández refused to attend “an interview” on Tuesday to which she was summoned by State Security agents, reported the academic herself, also coordinator of the platform The Young Cuba.
“Two counterintelligence officers came to my house and left me this summons so that I would attend an interview at 2:00 pm I will not do it,” he said.
“This is not a problem of caprice, or childish perreta. I will explain my reasons. In Cuba, a perverse logic has been enthroned that puts pressure on people who have no reason to prosecute and who are threatened and coerced for political reasons. I will not lend myself to it. I think it is necessary to close that scheme, ”he explained.
Later, he recalled that “Counterintelligence agencies exist in other countries, but their function is to investigate and, once the plot of a crime is assembled, pass it on to the Prosecutor’s Office for a formal accusation. If you have a way to prove a crime in my case, do it. I have nothing to say to them, nor will I accept anything they want to tell me. Because what you want: that I do not exercise my freedom of thought, expression and assembly, is unacceptable for me, as it should be for any citizen and intellectual, ”she assured.
In the early hours of this Tuesday, López Hernández announced on her Facebook wall that “for the first time” she had just been contacted by telephone “by a person, a woman, who identified herself as a counterintelligence colonel to propose a conversation at the Cuban Association of Artisans Artists (ACAA)”.
“My response was: I have nothing to discuss with the counterintelligence, if they wish to come to my house they will be received. I anticipate that the other step would be an official summons and I would go with my lawyer at that point, ”she pointed out.
After learning about the actions of State Security against López Hernández, numerous Cubans mobilized on social networks to demand that the Cuban teacher be left alone.
“With outrage, I read that Alina Bárbara López Hernández is being summoned by counterintelligence officers. I don’t know what her reasons will be, but I do think I know the honesty, professionalism and ethics demonstrated over the years by the main coordinator of the platform The Young Cuba, space where I have also published a dozen texts”, wrote the also professor Gustavo Arcos Fernández-Britto.
“When the country falls apart, the repressive apparatus is articulated with greater force, targeting everything that questions its dogmas, supposed principles and rhetoric. Fearful of everything, no longer aware of anything, they are unable to see the enemy growing in their own ranks. It is not the words, nor the texts, to blame for the ruin of a country. Much less their authors. You yourselves from absolute power have taken care of it. Full support for Alina for her civility, her sacrifice and the dignity of him, ”added the academic.
