Six months after the first experience, the German promoter AGON Sports will organize a new card of professional boxing in Varadero.
The event in the famous Cuban resort will take place on November 29 and will once again take place at the facilities of the Meliá Internacional Hotel, according to a note from the sports portal Hit.
The evening, which will include the presence of several fighters from the island, will have as its main attraction the fight between the Olympic champion Erislandy Álvarez against the Mexican Rogelio Jiménez, a fighter with experience in professional circuits.
With a record of 14 successes, one draw and two defeats, the Mexican will have the opportunity to snatch the Latin continental crown from the Cuban, corresponding to the 63.5 kilogram (kg) division of the World Boxing Association (WBA).
The fight between Erislandy and Jiménez will be one of three on the card that will have a maximum of 10 rounds, according to the information released.
Among those fights appears the one that will star the three-time world champion Lázaro Álvarez, 34 years old, in the 61.3 kg category, against an opponent yet to be defined.
Also waiting to know their opponents are locals Yunier Sorsano (69.8 kg/8 rounds), Saidel Horta (57.1 kg/6), Nelson Williams (90.7 kg/6), Keylor García (79.3/6) and Alejandro Claro (50.8 kg/6), as confirmed to the media by Alberto Puig de la Barca, head of the Cuban Boxing Federation. (FCB).
The manager added that the card will also include two confrontations between foreign fighters.

In search of redemption
The presentation in Varadero will be the first for Erislandy Álvarez after failing in her attempt to obtain the world title, during the world competition held last September in the English city of Liverpool.
On that occasion, the fiery 23-year-old Cienfuegos fighter was on the verge of the dispute for the title in the 65 kilogram division, losing in the semifinals to the Brazilian Yuri Falcao by a 4-1 vote.

With the purpose of erasing this pale image, Erislandy will return to the same stage where he won his first belt as a professional, after destroying the young Dominican Brainer Vázquez in just two minutes of the opening round.
During the premiere of AGON Sports in Varadero, Lázaro Álvarez, from Pinar del Río, was also present, responsible for one of the five local hits that evening. His victory was over Miguel Queliz Santos, also from Quito, who managed to hold out on the mat until the eighth round.
Lázaro, who was not at the Liverpool World Cup, had his most recent foray as a professional in September in the German city of Berlin, where he retained his WBA continental crown.
